From the outset, Mac's hopes and dreams had included the capacity of a home to produce its own energy. And we concurred! We were all to learn how much easier it would be to achieve this goal in an underground building properly designed and constructed. First to develop was passive solar—and what could be better for that than an underground building with its weather-modulating location and its necessarily massive structure.

What follows now are photos of some of the energy systems we are trying in what has become a demonstration project.
