Types of RV That You Must Know

Few people know that it is possible to own an RV. However, it is possible to find one that fits your needs and budget. Most RVs have the same basic features, such as sleeping, living, and dining areas, restrooms, and electrical systems. You can travel in relative comfort in an RV you purchase, whether it’s a large or small RV like the micro toy hauler. The average person doesn’t know everything, so I’ve listed them here. This will give you a quick overview to help you find the right type of vehicle for you.

Pop-Up RV

There are many sizes of pop-up trailers (also known as folding or pop-ups). The sides of the pop-up are made of canvas and fold into a box shape. The bottom and top are sturdy to protect them from water damage. They are spacious and easy to transport. Assembling the parts and disassembling them are labor-intensive as they have soft sides. These can be annoying when it rains and pose a safety hazard. They cannot be used in areas such as Yellowstone National Park, as they do not offer protection from wild bears.

Trailers

Trailers range in size from the smallest to the largest. While they can be costly, many prototypes are affordable. Teardrop trailers are petite, lightweight, and have limited equipment. These trailers are designed to look like teardrops. and can be towed by small cars. Regular trailers can be connected to the rear of any vehicle with a Reese hitch. Fifth-wheel RVs are joined to the foundation of a pickup truck with a specific hitch. Larger models offer spacious living areas, many amenities and are comfortable to travel in. They can also be parked at campgrounds when the tow vehicle is not in use. Heavy-duty tow vehicles are required for all of these trailers.

Camper Vans

Campervans slide onto the bed of a pickup truck. Although these units are small, they offer basic amenities and comfortable living spaces. These units can be very convenient but require a heavy-duty truck. Both parts together can be expensive to purchase. These units can be stored well and left alone when owners want to break down the car. These units can tip over, so they are not the safest vehicle to drive. These units can be built on the chassis of a truck or van. They are much larger than vans and offer more space. They can be very small or quite large and are suitable for towing toys.

Motorhomes RV

There are four types of motorhomes: A, B, and B+. Class A motorhomes are built on a truck chassis, a commercial bus chassis, or a purpose-built chassis. These campers can be fueled by a gas or diesel engine. They are available in sizes up to 45 feet in length. These coaches have high ceilings and are equipped with luxury amenities. As mentioned above, Class B coaches are vans that have been converted into motorhomes. These coaches have high ceilings and basic accommodations. Class B+ hybrids combine the best of Class B and Class C motorhomes. A Class C motorhome has a driving area with beds and lockers. 

Toy Trucks and Motorhomes

Toterhomes, Toy Haulers, and Toy Haulers can be described as unique types of motorhomes and trailers. One is an RV equipped with a commercial truck engine and designed to carry large loads. The second type is a trailer or motorhome that has living space and a garage, usually with a fold-down rear ramp. It is built on a truck chassis and a cab based on a van.  These vehicles are greater than Class B vehicles and offer many luxury amenities. It is designed for all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles.
